The
Way to Life
Lord
Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour, have
mercy on me a sinner.
The Jesus prayer Lord I thought that this was a prayer to be said repeatedly
but
having tried it I found its repetition boring
not
moving me on to a closer relationship with you.
So
I ponder this prayer What does it really mean?
How
has it helped so many over the centuries?
Now Lord you are showing me that it is a prayer to live.
It
is a prayer to remind my soul no more than that, it is a prayer to instruct
my soul.
It is not simply that you love me
it
is that you loved me when you died for me.
You
died in order that that I might live
So you
have given me new life
But
what is that life for?
It
has to be your life, so I ask, I plead to know
What
do you want to do with this life?
With
this life now and in this time?
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour, have mercy on me a sinner.
Show
me how to live it,
Make
me aware of how it is, conscious of my own unworthiness
and
yet knowing that forgiveness and love mercy is at hand.
You
make me worthy as I live that life with you.
Your ways are not my ways
.
O
Lord your ways are so much
higher and I fail to look that far.
I
forget that all things are possible in you,
I
forget that I can live in you
And
that you want the Church to be your living body daily
not just when we pray.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour, have mercy on me a sinner,
I
repeat it now
not
just with my mind but with my whole being.
Let
it be the way I live today tomorrow,
and
that to your glory forever
