Prayer for the Millennium

Father God, we thank you that you sent your son to this earth 2000 years ago
as a vulnerable human baby.
You did this because you loved us so much.
What a price to pay!
Help us to begin to understand that love for each of us.
No matter what colour or creed, you love us, and want us to respond to your love.
Help the world to realise that you did this so that we can come close to you,
and will be able to live in your presence for eternity.
Because you love the world so much, we must learn to love the world;
then wars might cease and we would be prepared to restore justice for all.
But we need your help, for we do not love all men and women equally, as you do.
We are selfish, and take what we want from the world's resources, without concern
for those who are unable to work, for those who are unable to provide even for the
basic necessities of life, for those who have no opportunity for advancement because
their countries are heavily burdened by debt.
Jesus we thank you that you were willing to come, willing to suffer and die for us.
Jesus we love you and want to become like you.
You are the only image of God that the Father has chosen to show us.
Please help us to obey you.
May we read your words with a new understanding
and believe that we can change if we allow you to mould us.
You are LORD, and we want to honour you.
We want to lovingly show the world that you are the answer to all its pain.
O the pain that you suffered for us when you were on earth,
but you are still suffering 2000 years later,
as you look on the sufferings of the world today.
The world questions why you allow suffering,
but you know how it draws us to the Father.
O that we might learn to trust you with everything, to surrender our whole lives to you,
as you surrendered your life at Calvary.
It is hard Lord to walk the way you did in this wicked world, but you are only asking us
to follow you, not run before you.
You have shown the way, and it is a way of love.
Thank you for leaving us with a Comforter and Guide, the very Spirit of God.
He is indeed the Divine Love that you have offered us, to live in our hearts and make us holy.
So we rejoice in this precious gift of yourself and know that you will never leave us nor forsake us,
that we can be in constant communication with you if we accept your presence within.
Acknowledging firstly that you are there, and seeking your direction.
So that your will may be done on earth and your name glorified.
We have had 2000 years to get this right.
How much longer will we need?
In our own strength we will need forever………..
but Lord Jesus you are coming back again and you want to find your bride ready.
So let us not resist your making us new, your removing the spots and wrinkles,
your making us a radiant, holy church.
This is your will, this is what you want.
So we pray that it will be what we want for the new Millennium and we will cry out
MARANATHA - Come LORD JESUS.

How I need the WORD………….
A word of assurance, a word of hope.
It comes as comfort to dispel doubt, even to disperse grief and pain. For it is truth, truth that is pure and cannot offend, only ease that hurting soul.
I know not how it surfaces amongst my many thoughts and mental agonies but it is always there deep in the shadows of my being. It is ever ready to step forward and bathe me in light when I am willing to acknowledge my anger or faulty reasoning or when at the end of my tether I just cry "help".
But the contrast as I come through into the light and know that I was wrong. When I acknowledge my sin of pride…… of being right, and not being willing or able to look at the scene from someone else's perspective. Am I looking for a scapegoat? Why must I have an excuse, why must I justify even my thoughts?
So come WORD of God, come two edged sword and cut out from my soul all that is impure and corrupting. For you are the LIGHT of the world and would have no darkness within me.
Even the shadows of my being must be removed so that you can no longer be hidden and must be seen. I shall have no excuse left for not honouring you in my words and actions so let them become your words and actions. Incarnation even in me…………
