November 2000

I have been very conscious of the suffering that the present flooding is causing to so many people.    Lives are being turned upside down and I wonder how long before we cry out to the Lord to have mercy.   Looking at the pictures on the television screen I see that so much of north and east Wales is under water.

The people of Wales have been praying for Revival, for Living Water to flood us in this land.    People throughout the world have also been praying for Revival in Wales, often acknowledging that when it comes to Wales again it will flow on, to England, Europe and the rest of the world.

So is this the way God answers prayer?

God has a wonderful way of bringing good out of evil and I pray that we shall, as a Nation,  return to Him.    Several times in the last couple of weeks He has brought to my mind a prophecy that was given to Anglican Renewal Ministries (Wales) in May 1998; we were holding a conference on Prophecy at Cefn Lea in mid-Wales.   It was given by Sue Mitchell and came during a time of teaching.    If we wanted Revival again we must pray the anointing out again from the depths of the earth, but it would bring with it turmoil and a shaking of the mountains.   My impression at the time was of floods and distress and we would cry out to the Lord.      But our prayer was to be intense supplicatory prayer even before it came.

Just before that conference I had had a series of dreams which seemed to indicate upheaval, earthquakes and tidal waves and  running from a derelict house, but the result was a beautiful, new one.    I knew these dreams were connected and I felt that they were about the church here in Wales.     I have not shared this until now but in the last few days I have had some unexpected links that has led me to put this onto our web pages and ask others to prayerfully hold them together.

Last week (9th November) we had our Annual General Meeting and I had the opportunity to talk to some of our members.   From a conversation with one of our Welsh-speaking clergy, I learned that he felt that we would not get our longed-for Welsh Revival until the 20% who speak Welsh, truly responded to the Lord, and their Welsh culture was affirmed.    The deep spirituality of the old Celtic church and chapel had to be touched again.    Much enthusiasm and  pockets of Revival had come out of England, out of Alpha Courses and newcomers.     ARM (Wales) has a predominance of English speakers amongst its membership.      During the singing of a chorus the Lord again reminded me of Sue Mitchell's prophecy for Revival was to start in Anglesey.    This is the most "Welsh" region of all Wales  and it seemed that the time had come to publish the prophecy again.

But there is another gem because as I looked up Sue's prophecy, to find which issue of the magazine it was printed in, I found Geoff Waggett's contribution:   Meteorological Extremes - a prophetic reflection!

God said several times to His people in Old Testament times "Return to me and I will return to you; you shall be My people and I will be your God".

I believe that He is saying that to us today in Wales.    God wants a Holy Church, we have to come before Him in repentance, then He will come and do the rest.    There will be no Revival without repentance so our prayers must take us into the depths of his Holiness, and we shall know the fear of the Lord.

As I am now moved to include these items in the back issues section I am also including a number of other articles from 1999 and 2000.    The whole matter of repentance is dealt with by Niall and Gerry Griffin please read that prayerfully.   I am reminded of what Archbishop Rowan said in his talk to us at Flames of Fire, "I must recognize that the suffering of any human being is a fact about me". ( Archbishop's Bible Reading - Flames of Fire 2000)
