News from SOMA UK.

The sad news is that they have had to withdraw the post of Associate Director due to lack of funds.  William Mather, who so enlivened our AGM in 2003, has been an active and enthusiastic contributor to the work of SOMA during his three years with them, and his book, Cry for Sudan, reviewed in our January issue this year, has been very well received by the public.  He goes to Hull to be team rector of the parish of Drypool, in the autumn, and we wish him every success.

SOMA are facing other changes, they need a new financial administrator and must find a replacement for Don Brewin within the next three years.  They are also looking at ways to tighten up their procedures in order to conserve all their resources.  Even so their mission work continues unabated with five teams going to areas suffering from drought, war and poverty.  They are Freetown, Sierra Leone; Kitgum, Uganda; Orlu, Nigeria; Kajiado, Kenya and Tabora, Tanzania.  Some of these will be self-funding but others rely on financial support from the public.  So if you can help them in any way, either financially or practically by actually joining a mission team, please get in touch with them: SOMA UK, PO Box 60025, Heath and Reach, Leighton Buzzard.
